Fascinating, Poignant Tale of Treachery and Justice, Perseverance and Friendship, Faith and Family
“The author deftly interlaces historical and nautical details into the story and his attention to descriptive detail vividly recreates the locales, transporting readers back in time to Cuba before the revolution and the Cayman Islands before they become a tourist destination. To further enrich the reader’s experience, events unfold at a leisurely pace that captures the essence of this earlier time when technology doesn’t permeate our lives and the pace of life is slower and less hectic. Rather than using a single perspective, Scott spins his tale from a variety of points of view to provide readers with a clear understanding of the act of piracy and subsequent events. Cayman Cross is a fascinating, poignant tale of treachery and justice, perseverance and friendship, faith and family. ”
A Delightful Read
"Though it is a work of fiction, this tale is based on the true story of piracy, mutiny and the official investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the appearance of a Cuban schooner in the Cayman Islands in 1922... The combination of fast-moving action, colourful seafaring characters and a surprise twist at the end makes this book a delightful beach read.

Skill Honed by Love of the Sea
“With skill honed by a love of sailing and research into the history of the times, [the author] lulls his reader into the easy pace of shipboard life in the Caribbean of the 1920's before sailing his characters headlong into disaster.... Cayman Cross is a great read for anyone who loves adventure, especially sailing or adventure on the sea."

A Real Page Turner
'"The only documented account of true piracy in the Cayman Islands was in 1922 on the Juana Mercedes, where the Captain was murdered and two boys went overboard and were left for dead.... The historical aspects of [Cayman Cross], combined with mystery, murder and revenge, make this a very compelling read by first time novelist Jack Scott. It's a real page turner with a surprise ending."

True Life Stories Make for the Most Unbelievable Adventures
“Just this minute, finished! It was a well done, honest tale that kept me turning pages. I know when I read a description in a book that evokes a sense of smell that I'm really connected to the story. The sea grapes, mangroves, salt spray and sand are all pleasant reminders of many days spent in the Caribbean. The sea urchin spines made me look at and rub my feet where I've had to pull those nasty boogers out many times. Although I've been to most of the Islands I've never had the pleasure of visiting the Caymans. Now I feel like I have. ”

Exciting and Informative for the Whole Family
“I love history/mysteries, but this first experience with pirates and adventure kept me reading almost non-stop. A wonderful story with intrigue, murder, and double cross. The book does not give away the ending--UNTIL THE END! Tom's son, David, totally enjoyed Cayman Cross. The story line, with its historical accuracy of the Cayman Islands and the Carribean trade in the 1920's, is the real clincher for this book. ”

Addictive!
“I picked up the Cayman Cross to take a look and now I'm having to force myself to put it down 75 pages later! Your dang, stupid book is keeping me from getting some work done that I need to get done tonight! I've pried myself loose for the moment, but I can't wait to get back to it... Good writing, good descriptions and flow... believable characters... I've been aboard that Schooner with Jose and Alberto for the last several days. ”

REAL Piracy is BETTER than the Consensus!
“When I read, I want to escape 'real life.' I want to go where the impossible happens. I want to explore undiscovered countries, battle terrific beasts, and hear someone shout, 'Here, there be monsters!' After all, true stories are boring right? After reading, I realized that I just couldn't be more wrong! This story has just about everything I look for in a good novel: swashbuckling adventure, murder on the high seas, and... PIRATES!!! I highly recommend you pick up a copy of this book. ”
